Minwax pickled oak floors.
If you re wanting to preserve the natural wood color and possibly go even slightly lighter i recommend using pickled oak.
My question is should both 1st floor and garden level floors have the same color stain.
This is a great stain to have on hand.
We ve been wanting to do a wood stain study for years now and in my head i wanted to do every type of wood with about 20 different stains each but with limited resources not to mention space we settled on 5 popular species of wood commonly used by diyers with 6 different stains.
This should cover the natural pink in the red oak wood flooring and provide an even lighter color tone you are wanting.
For superior durability and long lasting beauty the choice is clear protective clear finishes from minwax.
2 light 2 medium and 2 dark.
The 1st floor oak flooring has english chestnut stain throughout kitchen living room dining room and smaller bed room.
All of the wood types accepted the stain well except the non conditioned birch side.
From furniture to floors trust minwax products that beautify and protect wood.
Minwax wood finish is a penetrating oil based wood stain which provides beautiful rich color that enhances the natural wood grain.
I like the look of whitewash as it keeps lower level so bright.
My dilemma is what stain to go with.
It brought out the natural tones while slightly lightening each type of wood piece.
If you still want to go even lighter try 3 4 pickled oak and 1 4 classic gray.
It also appeared to make the wood look softer.
The whitewash collects in the darker grain creating a sort of sun bleached negative of the natural wood for a weathered driftwood look.
Along with furniture like the red oak bench shown here pickling is a great choice for pine floors beadboard wainscot and paneled shutters.
This stain added very little color to any of the boards maybe slightly lighter with a tinge of green but really brought out their natural color and grain.
