Bubbling cracked and or chipped paint.

Rising damp usually occurs in masonry.
Trying to paint over water stains that are still damp will lead to the chance of growing mold or mildew.
Make sure it s dry.
Of course if you have a water leak you ll be using more water than usual and you may notice that on your water bill.
Hidden water leaks are dangerous because they can cause serious issues like structural damage and mold growth before they are discovered.
If you think that you have painted over mold in your property it doesn t mean that the whole wall is infested but it could be.
If you have damp patches bubbling paint crumbling plaster or powdery deposits on wall surfaces close to the floor rising damp is probably the culprit.
When sweating occurs it s a clear sign that you need to take action immediately before the problem worsens.

Cover water damaged area with a peel stop sealer binder for this we used zinsser s water based peel stop.

You may reach this stage without any noticeable water stains but when this happens a portion of the plaster will have to be removed and patched.
Patch plaster to repair the damaged sections.

Excess moisture on your painted walls whether from water droplets high humidity leaks or plumbing problems can cause water filled bubbles in the paint originating anywhere from the substrate.
Bubbling plaster once the water damage becomes severe then the plaster will begin bubbling and bulging.
Walls or ceilings that are not entirely flat but seem to bubble and or bow which is a sign of water damage.
Remove all bubbling peeling and flaking paint with a scraper to smooth out the surface.
What this does is act like a glue which permeates into porous surface preventing water from seeping back through.
As the drywall becomes saturated with water the paint or wallpaper on the wall may begin to blister or peel.
